Fulstow Newsletter - July 2001

This month starts with a lot of moans & groans from residents.

Thought for the month:

Children are a product of their Parents ideals & environment
they live in !

So who is responsible for them and their actions below ?

Love is in the air ! And we have all done it at sometime, but can everyone ask their children to refrain from writing who they are in love with, all over the Village Hall walls. Although the names are quite clearly written, we will not be publishing them this month.

As many of you are aware the play area, has be repaired, with a new beam and is now a lot more secure, which doesn’t seem to deter our younger adults from trying to destroy, vandalise & write all over it. Some of last months new games where smashing as much glass as possible on the field behind the hall, tipping up the dustbin & scattering sanitary towels on the grass, along with breaking one of the snooker room windows & the old favourite, smash the phone box glass. Also some of the older children seem to find it amusing to try & intimidate the Under 7’s who are playing on the play equipment, with threats against them & their homes of violence & theft !

The school swimming pool has also been vandalised during June, which obviously upset the children who could not commence swimming at the start of term. Mrs Thornes generously donated her time along with some other Mums for a Disco which raised £ 62.00 towards the pool repairs Thanking all who brought along their children.

Wimblestow - Starts Saturday June 30th with a BBQ on the Pavilion Lawn

Play Group - Monday, July 9th - 10.00a.m - 11.30a.m A Coffee Morning with Cake Stall & name card has been arranged The children from playgroup are having a sponsored trike ride around the hall, to try & raise funds, to enable the playgroup to keep going for another year. Anyone, wishing to donate a cake please contact either Sandra on 363242 or Monika 363653. A Sponsor form is up in the shop for anyone who wishes to sponsor the future Carl Foggetty’s of Fulstow. Sponsor a child there are only 5 that can pedal !

Disco - Friday July 13th - End of term Disco. Under 11’s - 5.30 - 7.00p.m £ 1.50 including Hot Dogs & Drinks - Under 15’s - 7.30p.m - 9.00p.m £ 2.00 including Hot Dogs. This is a chance for the older kids to prove that they can behave, if they do we will try to do a Disco every month. Tell them to bring there own CD’s if they want ( clearly marked with names )

Wind in the Willows - Sunday July 15th 2.30p.m Village Hall- We have a touring theatre group presenting this family classic for your enjoyment. Entrance £ 2.50 per Person bring the kids & Granny to see Mole, Toad & Ratty’s adventures.

Summer Family Nights - Saturday July 14th - 7.00p.m Village Hall the 1st try at this, so come along have a drink meet the neighbours, even if you have no kids, BBQ will be lit (bring our own food).

Adult Fun Night - Saturday July 21st - 7.30p.m - late - Village Hall - A Evening of fun & games including a Mr & Mrs Competition

Virgin "V" Party - Wednesday July 25th - 7.30p.m Village Hall - A demonstration of Virgin "V" products. Win a make over & many other goodies. Bar open.

Summer Family Nights - Saturday July 28th - 7.00p.m - Same format as on 14th BBQ

Kids Summer Club - Every Tuesday & Thursday - 1.00 - 3.00 p.m. Village Hall.

Commencing Tuesday, July 24th £ 1.00 per Child Helpers needed, if poss a man or 2 for the sports & games, just do 1 afternoon during the 6 weeks to help please. See posters around village or contact Lisa 363740 / Nick 363405

70’s Night & Disco - Saturday August 4th - 7.30p.m - late - Village Hall Disco & prizes for best dressed Male & Female

Summer Family Night & Family Quiz - Friday August 10th - 7.00p.m - Village Hall - The family quiz will be aim at all ages so no need to read up on current affairs unless "Posh & Beck’s" do something interesting between now & then £ 2.50 per family.

We hope to have a newsletter of August but due to giving birth and not having access to copying facility’s we cannot be sure. So if nothing comes through the door, read the shop & village hall windows for notices for upcoming events.
