Fulstow Newsletter October 2001

Here we go again. Was it you or your children out late on Saturday, who decided to ruin the flower displays outside the shop and destroy the papers ?  Also which of the little groups of teenagers found it amusing to hang the swings higher up & in doing so have broken them, yet again.

We all know it’s not our children” so whoever they DO belong to, we hope next time they set fire to the bin or hedge that they don’t get hurt, as sympathy & excuses have run out on trying to explain why these dull, brainless vandals continue to cause more havoc around the village.

The Last of the Trolls -

Suitability:      5-13 years/families
Duration:       60 minutes

It is 1930 and the community of Trolls that live deep inside Coalby Mine have dwindled down to only  Rocky, the youngest and last of them is facing a bleak future alone. should he leave the mine in search of other Trolls? There are many dangers. Not least the fact that Trolls turn to stone in bright light. Tom Jackson who works at the mine and his daughter Millie are also facing hard times. But Millie is a fiery and positive redhead, someone to be reckoned with. This is the story of how a bright friendship develops between Millie and Rocky, strong enough to cross the abyss of fear that has existed for centuries between humans and Trolls. The play is brought to life with live spoken and marvellously characterised table-top puppets, a moving shadow sequence involving a pit pony, the delightful and silly comedy of Flotsam and Jetsam, and atmosphere is given by subtle lighting and sound effects.
