Fulstow Newsletter - February 2002
Cyril Brown
It is with great regret that I have added this to the web site copy of this
newsletter on Friday 1st February Cyril died at home of a heart attack. In his
76th year Cyril was a great a man, the whole village not only respected but
liked. Born at the Cross Keys in 1926 when his Grandmother was license of the
Pub, he continued to live there until his retirement as Landlord in 1992, a
job he took over from his father George. Cyril has also been Clerk for the Parish
Council for some 30+ years. So as you can see the Brown's have been around along
time.
Cyril had no immediate family but new everyone in the village, he spent his
retirement years enjoying himself with friends, holidays & tending the parish
flower beds, and in the last year contributing with wonderful stories &
Photos to the Fulstow book, a generous man to all aspects of village life. Who
will be greatly missed, by young & old alike.
Benny Chapman
Again with much sadness I have to report the Benny died on Wednesday 6th February
at home with his family. Benny was the last Fulstow Blacksmith & played
an important role in Fulstow village life. He also made great contributions
to the Fulstow Book with stories and lots of old photo's, object's & tools
etc.

PROMPT
Name & Shame: - For some unknown reason I
keep getting phone calls regarding dog "pooh", why me is this what
my life has become ! Anyhow, PLEASE, PLEASE can all you dog lovers do
the descent thing and take a bag with you & scoop up after you pooch. This
is actually a Parish Council matter but it does affect all of the village, so
if your 4- legged friends are seen to do "it" & "it's"
left on the pavement or grass verges, I have been asked to publish names for
a name & shame campaign. Don't make me have to do that ! PLEASE After
all it's not like we don't have open spaces around the Griff etc to walk the
dogs.

to thank all the 200 Club members for your continued support. Some members have

your collector who will be happy to assist you. Subscriptions are £13.00
per year, per number. Two numbers have now become available. Anyone interested
in taking one or both numbers please contact Kaz Nurrish.

Prepare to enter a new world ....Prepare to laugh and cry...Prepare to fall
in love with Madame Bovary
Great Carlton
"The show was brilliant - fast paced, funny, poignant. The cast's versatility
was breathtaking.
Golden Jubilee - There has apparently been some concern about the amount
of money needed to be raised for a Street Party type affair & dance. £
800.00 IS a lot
But to be allow the whole village to participate (if they want to) and not have
to pay out on the day this amount is by no means excessive. Of course we could
always do it another way around. Pay to enter the events, pay for yours &
your child's food, pay to enter the dance at night, pay for the BBQ & for
any decorations, hire of table & chairs, plus of course pay for the bar
staff, co-ordinators salaries, electricity & heating for the evening. If
those of you feel that this is a better way to go please, please let any of
the 4 members of the Jubilee committee.
