Firstly an apology to the football team CONGRATULATIONS for winning the league again this year. A fact we didn’t find out until the presentation dinner, which was a very enjoyable evening, the dinner & entertainment being different and excellently performed. Well done & thank you to all who organised & helped in anyway.

Which leads onto the point that people often say, why wasn’t so & so mentioned in the newsletter, well it can only be mentioned if someone tells us, mind reading was not available at my school.  So let me know 363405 or tell someone to let me know   Nicola Pike   There has also been a few random comments with regards to the way the newsletter is written i.e. Grammar, sarcasm etc I can only say that there is a vacancy for someone to take over this job and anyone wishing too PLEASE contact Nicola Pike

Open Gardens – I think that huge congratulations should go to the gardening club for their hard work for the open day. I am told approx. 400 people turned out and that over £900 was raised for the church. Well done & thank you to all the ladies & Car park attendant who helped out on the day.

On the subject of the church I am sure that it is not often that many of you wander up there for no reason, but if you do you will see that the grounds at the back, especially the hedges are getting rather overgrown. It has been suggested that on Sunday 14th July at 10.00am we give the churchyard a clear up. So could you come up to the church with hedge cutters, shears & strimmer’s, if enough people come along it should only take an hour out of your day. After all, how many of you have been married here, or had your children baptised here.

Race Night – Saturday 13th July – 7.00pm Village Hall. Another race night is being held these evenings are always great fun for young & old alike. Come along and see if you can win on the races & make your fortune!

One of the races the Cyril Brown Memorial race will be extremely apt on this evening as before the racing commences, an unveiling of 4 paintings is to be made. The paintings by Yorkshire artist Royce Harmer  are being presented to the village as a thank you from Royce & his brother John (Cyril’s cousin’s) for the way in which the village came together after Cyril’s sudden death and not only paid their respects at the funeral but for the refreshments, turnout and donations to a village memorial for Cyril. So even if you are not interested in racing please come along for the presentation.

Wimblestow – Is now being held over the weekend of July 6th & 7th, so you can all watch the World Cup final. Any who hasn’t entered yet please contact Neil Webber. BBQ at the sports field over the weekend during the sets.

Congratulations to Don & Julie who are to be married this month may they have many happy years

Anything wanting to be put on the newsletter for August please let me know by July 17th early I know but, with the school holidays & 4 children if I don’t do it that week it won’t get done.   Nicola Pike   363405
