November 2005

I found another old book to bore you with pieces of wisdom………….

November – Short days, but full opportunity should be taken of all daylight available for important autumn digging. Evergreen shrubs may be moved and the lawn swept periodically.

Wrinkles- Women with thin skin that wrinkles early in life should try taking radishes for breakfast & tea to remove them. These are excellent for fine lines around the mouth & eyes, 5- 6 weeks shows a great improvement.

Corns- A homely, but effective remedy consists of binding a slice of raw tomato over the corn, renewing every night & morning till corn is loosened and can be removed easily.

LANCE had better start growing more Radishes & Tomato's for the rush!

GRAND AUCTION – Sunday, 6th November at the Village Hall from 2.00pm . Viewing is from 1.00pm . The bar will be open so if you are a Bargain Hunter... be there. Anyone who still hasn't contact Nigel Larder with things for the auction please do so ASAP 363749

Friday, 11th November - The Kremlinaires at the Village Hall 8.00pm start

Soviet swing and Bolshevik boogie hits Lincolnshire village halls and community venues this autumn and winter season with the fabulous Kremlinaires who are touring as part of the County's renowned Rural and Community Touring Scheme. A bizarre and scarcely credible episode in post-war Soviet history came to light recently with the declassification of previously secret Politburo papers, outlined in a Guardian article in June 2002. It is said that Joseph Stalin, faced with an all-propaganda war against his former allies in the West, became convinced that the Americans had one unquestionable and unbeatable advantage in the struggle for hearts and minds of the proletariat – namely, Swing Jazz! This will be an evening of instrumental and vocal music with a swing feel and strong Russian influence.

There is a strong element of humour and theatrics; the audience will be hugely entertained with witty, clever and technically brilliant arrangements such as “Crème de la Krem”, “A Tsar is Born” and “Stomping with Stalin!” “Freakish and funny; this project has style!” Jazz Quad Magazine
