Blue Remembered Hills Wednesday 19 th Oct at 8.00 p.m .

Laughing Orange Theatre Company is touring one of Dennis Potter's masterpieces, Blue Remembered Hills , coming to Fulstow on, which many of you will recall from the splendid T.V. production a few years ago.

It's 1943 in the West Country, with war in the air and the world of adults still a mystery. Blue Remembered Hills is Dennis Potter's acclaimed story of a group of seven-year-old children living in the Forest of Dean . The landscape of woods and hills becomes the children's playground, far from the troubles of war. Here they explore their friendships and loyalties with all the excitement, joy, cruelty and horror that children are capable of. But the peacefulness and innocence of their world is lost during a single tragic event, and nothing will ever be the same for them again…

It's funny, poignant and ominous: a starkly observed piece about children at play and their relationships with each other. It's performed by adults, playing the parts of young children. Helen Mirren and a line-up of other well-known actors, including Colin Welland, starred in the original BBC TV play.
