July/August 2006

July born people - Often have a hard time in their youth. They are great workers & lovers of music. They ought to take care of their lungs & check their love for flattery. They may dress in all colours of the rose (except blue), and wear a ruby all the time. Mondays & Thursdays are good days for them, especially for love.

August born people - Steadfast & truthful, but vindictive when really vexed. Strong sense of family leads to shouldering burdens that do not belong to them; they are imposed on by the selfish & lazy. This makes them over-suspicious in later life. Dress- Greys, drabs, and all the shades of tomato. Care to be taken with the eyes: sardonyx is their stone. They never marry their first love, and should marry a partner older than themselves, preferably born May or December. The first Monday in August is a day of evil omen.

Well, I thought I had been transported back to the 1930's the other week, I saw a tractor & trailer, nothing unusual in that you say, BUT in the trailer were some ladies holding floral display's driving through the village, what a sight! However, on a more serious note the reason was that the Church roof has again lost a large chunk of plaster which fell in and hence James Marshall's wedding had to be relocated to Ludborough.

The Church roof has been in a terrible state for some years now, so if anyone can think of a fund raising idea to raise the much needed money, please speak to Derek Wardle or a member of the Church council.

If the church has to close because of it being unsafe it will make the possibility of it re-opening very difficult. Although, many of us hardly ever use the church, I don't think nobody wants to see it closed permanently.

I have been asked by numerous people to put the following on the newsletter and there is no “PC” way of doing it, so here goes……….Can you please cut back your hedges that face onto footpath's around Casswell Crescent and Northway, if fact anywhere where we have footpaths to walk on, as at the moment folk are having to walk on the road

Two more moans, someone has been driving on the cricket/football pitch, doing handbrake turns etc, use your brains Terry cuts the pitches for free and they take a lot of upkeep and are now a mess. If it happens again the Police will be informed as we have the registration number .

On the same note some brainless idiots, broken into the school pool and damaged the boiler flue on Saturday, and also broke windows at the pavilion after of course, driving their scooters over the pitch. The village hall committee have decided to make an official complaint to the police with regards to the pavilion & pitch.

The phone box well what can we say…………mindless, stupid and dangerous. I really hope whoever keeps breaking it cuts himself badly on it next time (That's just my personal opinion)
