FULSTOW NEWS
MAY 2007

I have done a bit of editing in the newsletters before, but this is the first one I have compiled on my own!! If anyone has news that they wish to be included in this newsletter, please e mail it to me at

julie-phil.good@virgin.net or contact me on 01507 363501.

I think a big THANK YOU is due to Nicky Pike for all the hard work she has put into the newsletter from it's first issue. It was her idea to produce it and has been her ‘baby' ever since. So I look on myself as a ‘child minder' for the time being until she feels she is able to take over the reins once more. I hope I can do as good a job!!

We are currently enjoying very good weather and have two Bank Holidays coming up this month, so everyone should be feeling good!

‘Hello' and ‘Goodbye'.

Hello to Mike and Mandy Pugh who are the new landlords at the Cross Keys and Gary & Sandy Beamish who are the new owners of the shop and Post Office. Welcome to Fulstow and good luck to you all in your new ventures.

But sadly it is also farewell to Andy and Linda Mumby from the Cross Keys, although they are not going far (Hi de Hi campers) and also to Jan and Phil Mann from the shop who are going back to Covenham. (Was it something we said Phyllis?).

Also Pete & Thora Munnings are leaving the village. We wish them happiness in their new home and we hope they won't become strangers. Many thanks to them for all their help with fund raising for the hall over the years they have been here .

On Thursday May 17 th Ratatat Theatre Company will be bringing one of John Godber's best loved plays to our village hall “September in the Rain” – as part of the County's highly acclaimed Rural and Community Touring Scheme, bringing professional live arts to local communities in local venues: live arts on your doorstep!

John Godber's early classic is an avowedly nostalgic trawl through the 30 years of Northern couple Jack and Liz's marriage, as crystallised by their annual week's holiday in Blackpool . Through richly comic physical theatre and hoary old jokes, which still command helpless laughter, they confront all that the Lancashire resort has to offer - the donkeys, the Tower, the Big Dipper, the waxworks and the amateur operatics show - bickering and barking their rough love for each other. Every tiff, they swear, marks the point of no return. Then they return.

It has moments of poignancy, bucketfuls of humour and enough old seaside charm to keep you laughing and remembering…wistfully.

Funny, moving, and remarkably life affirming. For adults and young people from 12 years and upwards. Don't miss it – 8.00 p.m. Tickets Tel : 01507 363682 .

To borrow a phrase from the Post Office – use it or lose it!!

Happy Birthday to Nathan Wressell - The big 30 this month.

Well that's it for May folks, so I will leave you with a couple of thoughts for this mont h:

Whoever said nothing is impossible, never tried slamming a revolving door!!

In sport - if winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?
