Fulstow News
February 2008

Well here we are, into February already.  Is it true that time goes faster as you get older?
Here is the newsletter for this month and no doubt you will have had it delivered to your door by a village resident who has volunteered to do this. Many thanks to Frank, Fred, Joyce, Susan, Jennifer, Paula and Millie for all their hard work.
Would any of you prefer to receive this monthly newsletter by e-mail?
If so, please e mail me at juli.good@btinternet.com and I will make sure you receive it every month.

It is with regret I have to report the sad death of Sam Maddison, aged 86 years. Sam was born in Fulstow, and lived in the village all his life. He was probably best known, along with his brothers, Harry and Charlie, for his love of steam traction engines and threshing machines. Sam’s father started the family threshing business in 1901 and Sam and his brothers carried on the business for many years. When farming methods changed and combine harvesters came in, Sam, Harry and Charlie would often be seen at Traction Engine rallies, demonstrating their skills with their engine, “Pride of the Marsh” and their threshing machine. Sam leaves a daughter, Susan, who now lives in Louth.  Fulstow has lost one of its best-known characters and the history he takes with him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

* Have you ever noticed; the people who tell you to calm down . . . are the ones that got you mad in        the first place.
