Fulstow News
May 2008

To start, a mention for two of Fulstows finest. Tracy French - serving in Afghanistan and Adam
French - going to the Falklands. Our very best wishes go with you both.

Also, congratulations to Sam Donovan for winning Yorkshire region short film and going to the BAFTA’s for the presentation.
A note of caution - quite a few residents had their vehicles broken into one night at the end of March. Be aware,
DON’T LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR AT NIGHT.

The Billy Flywheel concert was a resounding success, a great night out.
A phenomenal £1,137.00 was raised for the Village Hall.

We intend to start village social evenings on certain Saturday evenings during the summer, starting on Saturday June 7th. These will take place at the Village Hall and will be held every 3 weeks (weather permitting). The BBQ will be lit and the bar will be open from 6pm onwards. Everyone is welcome, just bring your own food (BBQ meat, salad etc), plates & cutlery are provided. Obviously, if the weather is not favourable, it will be postponed. If uncertain about the event taking place, ring Nigel Larder on 07801529789 and he will be able to tell you if it is on or off for that night. We hope that this will encourage villagers to socialise together and encourage both old and new residents to get involved in village life.

FULSTOW CHURCH

I am pleased to report that a generous grant has been approved from English Heritage for the church roof. This means that that project development can begin and this in turn will start the long process of getting the actual work underway. Church members would like to say a big thank you to all the very generous people who have already given donations or helped in any way and of course the fund raising will continue, so please keep up the good work. We are finally getting there!!

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Just a reminder that Fulstow Open Gardens event will be held on Sunday June 15th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in aid of the Church, Chapel and Village Hall funds. The organisers are seeking some more gardens to be opened, so if you or anyone you know has a garden of which they are proud, then please help by opening it for the event. Could we also appeal for helpers, on the door at the Village Hall, help with refreshments and also with car parking, if only for an hour. This is an important day for the village and all proceeds benefit the community, so instead of leaving things to the usual few, get involved, or there will be no community events in years to come. There will also be a Book stall and a Cake stall, and any contributions of books or cakes would be most welcome. If anyone can help in any way, please contact Joyce Marshall on 01507 363200 or Susan Newborough on 01507 363660. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Race for Life  – in Fulstow on June 22nd

If you would like to join in this event for Breast Cancer and don't want to run in Louth or Cleethorpes, do it in the village.
Starting at the Village hall at 11.00am you can Run! Walk or jog.
Entry will be a minimum of £5.00 donation, but you can be sponsored if you want.

Not strictly a Fulstow event, but possibly of interest if you enjoyed the Bush Doctors gig in the village hall at Christmas or have been a regular at the last two Party in the Park events on the playing fields, then this might be up your street! On Saturday June 28th, Richard Askam has organised an evening of rock n roll music taking place in a beautiful location at Thorganby, near Rothwell. Several bands are lined up to play starting at 6pm, there will be a licensed beer tent, burger van and camping is available if you want to get into the festival spirit. It is a charity event in aid of the local church, so a donation of £5 per adult will be asked for on arrival but under 16's are FREE. The gates open at 4pm and the internationally renowned Bush Doctors will be the headline act!     Thorganbury 2008 , it will be like Glastonbury - only nearer!!
